What We Are Fishing For on Inshore Adventures

Inshore fishing offers versatile approaches, from light tackle and fly fishing to precise bait casting. Depending on the fishing season and fish we are targeting, anglers can choose between live shrimp, live mullet, live croaker or artificial lures  carefully crafted to imitate the prey of targeted fish.

  • Redfish (Red Drum): Redfish are a prime target for inshore anglers, renowned for their hard-fighting nature and delicious flavor. These fish thrive in shallow waters, frequently patrolling grassy flats and lingering near oyster beds.
  • Speckled Trout (Spotted Seatrout): Speckled trout are abundant in Galveston’s inshore waters, especially in the warmer months. These fish are prized for their fight and are commonly found near drop-offs and around underwater structures.
  • Flounder: Known for their unique, flat bodies and excellent camouflage, flounder are typically found on sandy or muddy bottoms. They are a favorite among anglers for their challenging catch and delectable meat.
  • Sheepshead: Easily recognizable by their black and white vertical stripes, sheepshead are often found around piers, rocks, and jetties. These fish are not only fun to catch but also make for great eating.
  • Black Drum: These fish are similar to redfish but can grow much larger. Black drum are commonly found in the same areas as their red counterparts and are known for their strong fight.
  • Other Species: Depending on the season and water conditions, you may may also encounter whiting, sand trout, and Bull Reds as well as Big Uglies.

In Texas, anyone 17 years of age or older must have a valid fishing license in order to legally fish in public waters. There are different types of licenses available depending on the type of fish being targeted and where they will be fishing. Knowing the regulations and obtaining the correct license can help ensure that anglers have an enjoyable and safe outing on Texas’ waterways. You can purchase a license at Wal-mart or Academy or online at www.tpwd.texas.gov.  If you are a “Rider” on our charter and are not fishing, this does not apply.

While we guarantee to put forth our best effort, we must acknowledge that fishing is subject to many uncontrollable natural factors. Our captains are highly skilled and often find success where others do not. However, we cannot guarantee a catch on every trip. Our promise to our customers is honesty and a commitment to providing a memorable experience.
